Halve the bulb and scoop out the seeds.
On the chopping board, cut off the top and bottom of the squash with a knife.
Scrub the squash clean with a small scrubbing brush and cold water, and pat dry. Winter squash are allowed to mature on the vine, then stored. The delicate squash inner with its nutty, buttery flavor literally melts in your mouth.
